The Friendships

The friendships created at camp are friendships that last a lifetime. Our counselors are not only of the same age and similar interests, but they're also sharing in a singularly unique and intense experience - the character of which can not be fully understood by anyone outside their circle of 40 counselors. This extraordinary dynamic is fertile ground for powerful and enduring bonds of camaraderie, respect, and affection. Many of our staff are still close friends years after their summers at Friendly Pines Camp. Others have become travel companions, globetrotting and reuniting with international staff from Australia, New Zealand, England, Ireland, Russia, Africa, South America, and more! Some even become husband and wife.

The Fun

Camp is fun. Your job as a counselor is to help make that fun happen. We, therefore, look for staff who haven't lost that childlike wonder. (By the way, "childlike" is quite different from "childish")  A sign in our Dining Lodge reads, "It's not doing what you like, but liking what you do." It's the rare individual that couldn't like the work at camp. All of our counselors are either the head or assistants in activities such as:
