GIVE SESSION THREE A SECOND LOOK!
Though Sessions One and Two are nearly full, space is still available in
Session Three. During the Fall of 2002 when we learned that the first week in August would be available for our use, we jumped at the chance to tack those additional days on to our third session. We knew the slightly longer session was a notion that would take our families some getting used to. But we also know that as families grow more comfortable with a two-week four-day stay, Session Three will grow more desirable and more popular. We, in fact, are seeing that kind of enthusiasm among our returning campers.
We wanted to take a moment to help you understand just what benefits those extra four days hold for our Session 3 campers.
- Lower per-day cost.
The per-day cost for Sessions One and Two is about $103.00. The eighteen days of Session Three costs $97.00 per day.
- More Activity Time.
Without going into the particulars of our Green Day, White Day scheduling structure, the additional 4 days translates into one more White Day (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) and two more Green Days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday). That means one more day to work on a more advanced sewing project. Or another day to hike. Another couple of afternoons waterskiing at the lake or mornings on horseback in the forest. With four activity periods in a day, Session Three offers a total of 48 hours of activity time compared to the 36 activity hours in either Sessions One or Two.
- Extra Outings and Overnights.
The last three summers during Session Three, we were able to offer a host of special activities that we couldnÕt manage in the shorter sessions. Fishing spent a full day at Goldwater Lake. The hiking class organized some special day-long trips. The Earth Lore and Campcraft activities had special overnights. Several of the riding activites planned breakfast and dinner rides. Climbing enjoyed longer more challenging climbs. Some cabins organized an extra campout while other cabins slept out in the loft at Uncle Bud's Barn one last night. These added programs allow campers to take the skills they've learned and apply them to a whole new experience.
- Enriched Experience.
Most of you have visited a new city or foreign country. When you first left the airport or train station to begin your adventure, you may have felt a little overwhelmed - maybe even a little frightened. The first few days you ventured from your hotel, but not very far. But each day you gained a little more confidence. You began recognizing street names and landmarks. You discovered the quaint shops, bakeries and restaurants at which all the natives shopped and ate. This new place was starting to become your own. Camp is just like that. The longer children are at camp, the more it becomes theirs. They shed their inhibitions, liberating themselves so that they can enjoy all of the subtle, delicious pleasures of life on the mountain.
- More meaningful friendships.
Perhaps the greatest joys of summer camp are the friendships. Sure the waterskiing is fun and the rock climbing is grand, but nothing is quite as satisfying as making a new friend. The four extra days at camp are ample time to nurture a blossoming companionship. We often find the goodbyes at the end of Session Three are more intense and, yes, a little more tearful. This, of course, makes the greetings next summer that much more special.
We hope you can join us this summer. If you have additional questions, please call or email us.
